Re-thinking financial services and connecting with the new talent and ideas that are driving change

Next Bank Europe takes place this year in Barcelona from 18 to 19 September. We’re bringing together creative and innovative thinkers from all over the financial services and fintech industries to share the great ideas that are shaping them today.

This year we are focusing on re-think and connect.

The industry is in a state of flux and and it’s time to take a fresh look at it. Here’s how we’re going to kick the conversation off:

  • Re-thinking leadership – specifically, what issues are leaders addressing to keep pace with the change? Here we take a look at innovation inside financial services and then focus on disruptive innovation from the outside and what that means for the institutions. We’ll talk to the rebels and mavericks operating both on the inside and the outside and we’ll explore what leadership entails in the context of financial innovation.
  • Re-thinking the customer – we’re taking the perspective of the customer and understanding how they are affected by the disruptive shifts, understanding what the customer means when they demand a complete re-boot of banking and understanding the customer itself – what needs to be done to address their needs in this new world?
  • Re-thinking organizations and businesses – here’s where we investigate the end of the hierarchy and the consequences of democratizing innovation, we explore what it means that accelerators and corporate VC have entered the world of finance and we look at what’s required for the digital transformation of financial services.
  • Re-thinking the state of fintech – there are power shifts taking place, do we need to re-think the business model? We take a deeper look at some of these power shifts and the impact they are having – crowdfunding, online-offline experiences, banking APIs and payments and wallets. We’ll take an ever closer look at disruptive shifts – what are the fintech startup innovations that are impacting the industry. Finally we’ll be exploring the fintech startup ecosystems that are forming all over Europe.

But it’s not only about re-thinking, throughout both days we’ll be inviting you to connect with the new talent and ideas that are helping to forge this change. We’re hosting the European final of BBVA Open Talent, the global search for the most exciting and disruptive startups with the potential to transform the industry.

You can also visit the Fintech Innovator Village, this is the chance to get a first-hand look at the technology and talent behind Europe’s most innovative fintech startups.

We’re staging the event at Valkiria Hub Space in the heart of the Poblenou in Barcelona, a couple of blocks from the beach. This was once an industrial space but it has been transformed into a creativity and inspiration hub.

We’ll be announcing speakers shortly – if you would like to be one, get in touch with our Director of Communication and Events, Kirsty Elliott.

Early bird tickets are on sale now.
